What are you passionate about? (Tell us about a special talent/skill that you have or a cause you are active in.)
As an artist, I have a lot of different passions. My biggest one would have to be my aspirations to become a fashion designer. I recently started a line called Amaka Designs, and I'm having my first show for it this week. My designs focus on bringing high fashion to all shapes and sizes, because I believe that nothing is more beautiful than the real woman. I also enjoy acting and intend on being a drama major. I also write poems, short stories and scripts in my spare time, whenever inspiration strikes. I love doodling and painting, and I try to improve on my skills via classes and working on pieces with other friends who are into the arts. I also love to dance and have plans to join a belly dancing troupe.
When you were 5, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was 5 I loved to read and write stories all the time, so I wanted to be a writer.
What artist/song would your friends be most surprised to find on your mp3 player?
My friends would probably be surprised to find Miley Cyrus's music on my mp3, because I hate mainstream "top 40 hits" type music.
What made you laugh recently?
My boyfriend accidentally ripped his pants. We were in stitches over it for the rest of the day =)
If you could be exceptionally rich, exceptionally gorgeous, or exceptionally brilliant, which would you choose, and why?
I would want to be exceptionally brilliant, since I figure that an exceptionally brilliant person could make money, and I love the way I look already.
If a story about you was featured on the evening news, what would the headline be?
I imagine it would be something along the lines of "Girl flown to hospital after literally laughing her spine out of alignment." I love to laugh!
What is your favorite purchase made in the last 6 months?
For the fashion show I'm doing, I purchased some black and blue tulle for this punk rock ballerina dress I was making. I've never really gotten a chance to work with tulle in the way I did, and I had tons of fun doing it!
What reality TV show do you think you'd have the best shot of winning, and why?
I think I would have a really great shot at winning Project Runway because I'm really good at designing under pressure, I'm really big on being drama-free, and I love challenges.
How has clear skin helped you to achieve your goals?
I've had a lot of issues with self-esteem in the past and it took a while for me to be confident in myself the way I am today, so I think that having clear skin was something that always made me feel good about myself when not much else did. I've always loved every inch of my skin, especially the skin on my face, and getting compliments about my skin over the years gave me a higher self-esteem and made it easier for me to find my deeper qualities and be proud to be who I am.
