What are you passionate about? (Tell us about a special talent/skill that you have or a cause you are active in.)
I am passionate about promoting literacy because I feel that education is what will alleviate poverty on an international scale. I have been a tutor throughout high school with the Naperville North Literacy Center and hope to volunteer with the America READS program through Northwestern University.
When you were 5, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a princess, but now I know that life is not that easy. It's good too, because if we don't have to work and earn our happiness then we do not properly appreciate what we have.
What artist/song would your friends be most surprised to find on your mp3 player?
The Beatles. While I do love my pop and hip-hop, I am a true Oldies girl at heart.
What made you laugh recently?
The Proposal. I love Sandra Bullock and this was such a fun movie. She plays such a strong female in this movie, but still can't help falling in love. It reminds me of Kelly Clarkson's Miss Independent, which should have been on the soundtrack!
If you could be exceptionally rich, exceptionally gorgeous, or exceptionally brilliant, which would you choose, and why?
I would choose to be exceptionally brilliant because money and good looks often bring more trouble and complications than they are worth and they can never make you happy. Bring brilliant isn't a guarantee to happiness either, but perhaps if I was exceptionally brilliant I could better understand what it is that makes me happy.
If a story about you was featured on the evening news, what would the headline be?
Teen Girl Saves World - because someday I really would like to be able to make a big POSITIVE impact on this world and change it for the better. Saving the world, while generic, is the ultimate goal.
What is your favorite purchase made in the last 6 months?
A 15.4" Appl MacBook Pro for college! I have to save all of the money I earned this summer to buy it, but it was definitely a worthwhile purchase.
What reality TV show do you think you'd have the best shot of winning, and why?
Dancing with the Stars, except that I'm not a star so I'm not sure how I would get on the show, because I am flexible, athletic, love dancing and am quick to learn. Plus, I just love the pretty costumes!
How has clear skin helped you to achieve your goals?
Clear skin has given me more confidence in myself. I am much more likely to raise my hand and call attention to myself now that I am happy and proud of the skin I'm in. I know it is silly, because appearances shouldn't make a difference. But the sad truth is that people often do judge you based on your appearance before getting to know you. Even I am guilty of it sometimes. However, I really make an effort to focus on the PERSON inside as opposed to outer beauty.
